Updated Technology Improves Security and Accessibility
In 2015, California’s rules for testing and approving voting systems and equipment were updated and improved. In 2017, the Secretary of State approved newer, more modern systems with better security and auditability features that are based on the updated 2015 rules. In 2020, all counties in the State began using new voting systems after the Secretary of State removed the permission for counties to continue to use older systems.
